Riley Blaine - Two Years Old!!!

Our sweet, handsome, smart, ornery boy turned two years old today! He's growing up way too fast...I was looking back at pictures of Riley from when he was born, and I started to feel sad. My baby is no longer a baby...He's a big boy?! I thought it'd be nice to share some pictures of highlights from Riley's first two years. Enjoy...

Happy Birthday Riley! Your Daddy and I love you so very much, and hope you have a special & fun day! :)

On a side note: I'm sorry that you couldn't eat your cupcakes first thing this morning...but I'm sure you are enjoying them with your friends today at daycare! ;)

July 19th Already?!

In just ten days, my sweet little boy will be two years old. I can't believe how fast these last two years have gone...

It is such a joy to watch him grow up, and I can't wait to share pictures of his second birthday party with you! He got another hair-cut last weekend in preparation...

I hope you're all having a great week!

A Little Visit to Tulsa...

This past weekend, Jon decided he was going to have a "Guy's Weekend" in Tulsa with a few of his friends, so Riley and I headed to my sister's house in Owasso to see Grandma Peggy, Caroline & Campbell. All three cousins really enjoyed their playtime together...and boy were they full of energy! I attempted several times to get a cute picture of the three of them...but that wasn't going to happen!

Caroline and Riley are so funny...they mimic what the other does. They're only five months apart, so I have a feeling they will be ganging up on sweet little Campbell in a few years.

Riley really surprised me with how much attention he paid to baby Campbell, or "Mammal" as he called her.

Here he is giving her a rattle that fell on the floor...

Riley even sat next to Campbell, and it was absolutely precious!

Precious, until he decided he didn't want to sit next to baby Campbell anymore...

Pure cousin love right there! (Campbell was unharmed from the above picture). All in all, Riley and I had a great weekend, and really enjoyed seeing Grandma Peggy, Caroline & Campbell! I have a feeling Jon had a great time with his friends as well...I received this text message at about 2AM Sunday morning:

Erin, I have your husband's cell phone...No idea what's going on...Stuff is crazy.

Did the picture scare you too?? I had a nightmare my husband was a zombie after this one. Haha. I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

A Random Realization

I think it's time for Riley to get a haircut...He's starting to grow a mullet. ;)

July 4th Weekend, 2011

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend! Ours was spent fence-building, water-playing, and relaxing.

Since our fence had blown down after a bad storm a few weeks back, Jon got together with his boss, and built a new fence. They worked very hard, and in the horrible heat...and now we have a sturdy new fence on metal posts!

Since Jon was outside most of the weekend, Riley became a bit jealous...and wanted to be outside too. So, I let him run around Saturday evening, and play with a new water toy.

It's a huge beach ball, that hooks-up to any hose, and sprays water. It works great as a fun little water toy for toddlers...and as a sprinkler for the yard too! He loved running in and out of the sprays of water. It's made by 'Little Tikes', and I highly recommend it!

Another cute little toddler find was this toddler-sized adorondak chair from Wal-Mart. It's the perfect size for Riley, and he really enjoys dragging it around the house.

No celebration of our Independence would be complete without a cookout, so we grilled hamburgers on Saturday, and steaks on Monday. They were delicious!! (Sorry, no pictures)

To end our long weekend, we took Riley to Reeve's Park in Norman to watch fireworks. It was a little difficult because he was extremely cranky...it was about 2 1/2 hours past his normal bedtime. I was afraid the loud noises from the fireworks would scare him. I was wrong! He absolutely loved them...he sat there for 10 minutes and just looked up at the sky, saying "Whoa!!". It was really cute to watch him.

Summertime

It sure is hot here in Oklahoma! To stay out of the heat as much as possible, Jon and I decided to take Riley to the Sam Noble Museum of History last Saturday. We'd taken him before, when Jon's dad came to Norman for a visit...but Riley was less than a year old. This time, Riley was able to interact with the exhibits more. (He loved looking at the dinosaur teeth and bones the most.) It was a fun outing for our little family, and best of all, we got in free because it was "Library Day"!

Another happening around our house recently, is that we bought Riley a baby pool. It's the best $3.00 I've ever spent! (Why didn't I get this thing sooner?!) He loves it, and it's another great way for him to cool off and beat the Oklahoma heat.

Here's a few more photos of our little stinker in his dinosaur pajamas...

Pointing to himself as a baby in one of our family photos...

I hope you all have a fabulous Fourth of July!! Our plans are to stay local, and take Riley to see fireworks for the first time. Stay safe & have fun!
