Riley Lately....

I thought I'd write a post about the most interesting toddler I know...He's learning so much, and growing up way too fast. Just the other day he started reading the newspaper...

He's learned how to brush his teeth...

He's developing his own fashion sense...

He knows how to use the computer to play on interactive toddler websites...

Where has the time gone?! I remember when he used to depend on me for everything...now he's becoming more independent. It's great to see him learning more and more, but it makes me sad that time is moving by so quickly.

Jon and I plan to take Riley to pick-out his own Halloween costume this weekend...we also thought we'd let him pick out a pumpkin or two. I hope you all have a great weekend!

PS:  My sister sent me the below picture, and I think it pretty much sums up the average toddler...

Oh, and we can't forget this funny photo either...Gotta keep up on current events!

OU/TX 2011

Hello Everyone! Sorry it's been awhile since my last post...I just haven't really had anything to report as of lately. However, Jon and I did go on a little mini-vacay this past weekend. We made the trip to Dallas with a couple of friends, so we could soak up the action of the OU/TX game. We did not go to the game...because tickets were outrageously overpriced...but we still partook in all the fun festivities that come along with the Red River Rivalry. We rode to Dallas with our friends: Ajay and Cass...being the only girl in the car for a three-hour road trip was pretty interesting...oh the things boys talk about! It was great to see Ajay, since he lives in Washington D.C....we hardly see him these days...

I drove...which was fine with me!

Jon did his best to put everyone in the mood for the rivalry weekend...

Once we crossed the border into Texas, we had to make a pit-stop, so the boys could buy some drinks for the weekend of fun...

We really enjoyed seeing all of the OU fans making the drive on I-35...This truck was the favorite...

Jon and I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott (which was just okay), but Ajay and Cass stayed in the very nice Marriott Renaissance Hotel (which is where we ending up spending most of our time)...

Dinner Friday Night consisted of delicious Cajun food at Pappadeaux

It wouldn't be a vacation without a kissy picture of the hubby and I...

The boys enjoyed their hotel, which happened to be where the OU football team stayed...

Gotta love Ajay's photography skills...

Once we had all digested dinner, we trekked over to the Hilton Anatole to see more friends we hadn't seen in awhile. Joe lives in California...so when he comes to town, we know we're in for a fun time!

We all headed to The West End (Downtown Dallas) for the pre-game traditional taunting between both sets of fans. We had a blast, and the pictures pretty much speak for themselves...

The next morning we peeled ourselves out of bed to head to Hooter's just in time to see OU stomp Texas! My good friend Leslie came too! We had a blast!!

After the game, we all went back to our respective hotels for a much needed nap...and set out again for a fun night, which included Mexican food for dinner, and meeting a pretty nice Texas fan.

Sunday was a day spent driving home...but it was nice to see the sweetest boy in the world (who stayed home with his Grandma Peggy). We had such a fun weekend, and can't wait to do it again next year. Boomer Sooner!! I thought I'd leave you with a couple of funny pictures I saw on Facebook from last week...

The Great State Fair of Oklahoma - 2011

Last weekend Jon, Riley and I headed out to the State Fair of Oklahoma. This is the third year I've taken Riley, and he just loves it! I managed to get a few pictures of our mini-adventure, so I wanted to share with you here on the blog. Jon and I had hoped to let Riley go on some of the kiddie-rides this year, but on this particular day Riley was just too cranky, so we decided not to put him on any rides...But, we still had a lot of fun out at the fair...

Our first stop, once we entered the fair, was the "Car Barn", where we looked at several different trucks (Riley's favorite)...

Mr. Handsome enjoyed looking at all the new trucks...

When it was time to try some totally-bad-for-you-but-absolutely-delicious fair food, Riley got to try a bounty of eats. He had some bites of an Italian sausage sandwich, a few nibbles from my corn on the cob, and his favorite: Fried Cheese Nuggets with jalapeno ranch dipping sauce...

Next, we headed to "Agtropolis", which is an exicting indoor exhibit for kids that showcases real Oklahoma Livestock. This was definitely the highlight of Riley's time spent at the fair. Jon held little Riley up, so he could see all of the new little baby chicks that had been born that morning...

Riley spent a lot of time checking out the cow...he seemed most fascinated by the cow of all the animals we saw...

Ha...The picture below was taken near the goat/sheep exhibit...where we witnessed one of the goats dropping a lovely little present on the floor. Riley kept saying "UCKY!" (a.k.a. Yucky)...and it was indeed...

Riley really liked the chickens and rooster...he kept asking me to open their cage...

We also got to see a couple of adorable baby pigs...

Like Father...Like Son...

I tried to take a picture of Riley in a little nature area...but he was mad that we had left "Agtropolis"...

Inside the "Made In Oklahoma" Building, we saw some pretty awesome cakes! This haunted house, and replica of Oklahoma City were awesome...

After we toured four buildings, we had a very cranky toddler in need of a nap! So, we packed up, grabbed a caramel apple on our way out, and drove home. Maybe next year we can take the little guy on some kiddie rides...I know he would have loved them!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Boomer Sooner!!

OU Football Begins!

Well folks, the day all of us Sooner fans have been anxiously awaiting finally arrived...OU Football kicked off a few Saturdays ago! I was fortunate to be invited to the game (Thanks Dad!)...while Jon hung out at an awesome tailgate with friends.

Obviously we're all very thrilled about how the Sooners are playing...and are down right jubilant at the fact that we're #1!!

Riley enjoyed the game from home with the babysitter...but we managed to snag a few pictures with him before he started crying with separation anxiety we left for the game.

Since this game fell on Labor Day Weekend...and we felt bad for leaving little Riley home while we were out for the game, we decided to take him out to eat at Logan's Roadhouse, where he dined on a delicious children's chicken finger basket. Unfortunately, we had to wait nearly 30 minutes before we were sat, but Riley behaved so well! He was very fascinated by the beeper they gave us...

With good behavior come rewards...So, Riley got to go on a little visit to Toys 'R Us, where he picked out a "Cars" potty and an adorable little backpack. He now carries his backpack or "pack-pack" to daycare with him instead of a diaper bag. This adorable little backpack has become his new obsession, and he has to know where it is at all times! He must know how adorable he looks with it on...

My little boy looks like a big kid that's waiting for the school bus to pick him up...:(
They grow up so fast!!
