What's Going On With You?

Hello everyone! I thought I'd share a quick post to sum-up what's been going on with Jon, Riley and I this week. Well, Sunday was Father's Day, and while I took my dad to eat lunch at a mexican restaurant, Riley and Jon got to spend some quality father-son time together....This is what happened majority of the day...

On another note, I have started going to class on Tuesday and Thursday nights for the capstone course of my MBA. The teacher seems like she'll be tough, but I'm looking forward to learning more about global integration. The good news is that I'll be done with this class next month! I'm so excited that I'll only have two classes left before I graduate in December!

I hope everyone has a great weekend....just think, next weekend is a three-day weekend! YIPEE!!!

(Side Note: Have you guys seen this promotional video for the Toyota mini-vans? It is hilarious!! Jon keeps chanting the "Where my kids at" part...and it just cracks me up.)

Dear Daddy,

Before we met officially, I knew you were my dad. I heard a lot during those nine months inside Mommy's tummy. One phrase was repeated over and over..."Boomer Sooner". I liked when you would talk to me, and I'd wriggle, kick and try to play games with you when you'd push on Mommy's tummy.

You did so much to prepare for my arrival, and began your journey of becoming my Daddy.

Then, when I made my grand entrance into this world, you were the first person I saw. You looked at me with so much love in your eyes, that I knew from that moment on, you would protect me.

You took me home for the first time...and were so excited to teach me everything you knew. I really enjoyed when you were showing me how to make a "down-longhorns" gesture with my hands. Our bond was growing everyday...as you stayed home with me for 12 weeks of father-son time.

You always take me to the best places:
                                             My first OU Basketball Game

                                                                The Park

                                                               The Zoo

You always know what to say, and you tell it like it is. I really admire that quality in you. I can always count on your support and nurturing.

Lately, I've come to realize that you and I are a lot alike...

We both love the Oklahoma Sooners

                 We are both extremely handsome

                                                    We both love Mommy

The older I get...the more I realize how much you love me. Thank you for being such a great daddy to me.

I look forward to all the times we'll spend playing ball outside, talking about sports, and doing other guy stuff. You are the best daddy a kid could ever hope for.

Love Always,
   Riley B. Honan

A Day at the Zoo

Sunday was Riley's first trip to the zoo. Jon and I decided that our little guy would love the seeing all of the animals, plants, and other kids. The Oklahoma City Zoo is absolutely wonderful! If you have not been to the OKC Zoo lately, I highly recommend you go visit. It has been remodeled recently, and has nice bathrooms, shops, cafe's, etc. The grounds are maintained beautifully ,and the animals all look very clean. Another bonus was that the zoo didn't smell awful like I thought it would. They also have a fabulous Children's Zoo that has all kinds of exhibits for kids of all ages. It is also fairly inexpensive for a full day of fun. We walked all around the zoo for about 4 hours before we decided to get out of the heat and head home. We look forward to going back to the zoo this fall, when Riley will be walking and the weather will be cooler. Riley's favorite animals were the leopards, toucans, goats and tortoises. He had so much fun on his little adventure. Here are a few pictures from our trip to the zoo (with captions below each picture):

How Does Your Garden Grow?

We've been busy the last few weekends! Last year, I was seven months pregnant when it came time to plant flowers outside. Because I was pretty uncomfortable at that time, Jon was gracious enough to plant some flowers in our flowerbed. He did a great job, but since the responsibility is mine now, I decided to step it up a notch. I decided to go with a mixture of pink and white flowers. After the flowers were planted, I decided my planters needed a makeover....so I spray-painted all our terracotta pots black. As if that weren't enough, I had Jon dig a flowerbed for around our tree in the front yard...and thus planted more flowers. After Grandma Pat was nice enough to give me my very own basil plant, I decided to get a parsley plant, as well as a tomato plant. Things are going great so far with my mini-vegetable garden. So far, nothing has died! In fact, everything seems to be thriving! Here's to hoping they stay that way. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer thus far.
